Rewettable Canvas Pipe Lagging is a 14.5 oz fiberglass asbestos pipe wrap that is easily installed over asbestos pipe insulation to conceal the fibers that are considered a health concern if airborne. The rewettable pipe lagging is made out of fiberglass cross woven thread that is embedded with an inorganic rewettable coating. Once moistened, the rewettable coating becomes sticky and hardens once it dries. This insulation lagging is tested to withstand a maximum operating temperature of up to 1000°F.
SPECIFICATIONS:
- Meets Military Specification: MIL-C-20079H Type 1 Class 4
- Meets US Coast Guard USCG 164.009 for incombustibility
- Rated for High Operating Temps: Up to 1000°F
- 100% Made in USA!
PRODUCT DIMENSIONS:
Per Yard: 60" wide x 3ft long* (for less than 5 yard orders)
Per Box (5 yards): 60" wide x 15ft long
Discounted Price per Box: $86.25
*Note: Per Yard orders are not cut individually, if you order 3 yards, you will receive a 9 ft long section
Installation Instructions:
- Repairs: Crumbling and deteriorating insulation should be repaired prior to encapsulation with Fiberlock Wet Wrap 'N' Seal Asbestos Repair Rolls.
- Measurement: Measure the outside circumference of the pipe insulation to be concealed to figure out how many yards of material to order. We recommend that the 60" length be used to cut 3ft long strips rather than have 60" long strips which are harder to install (we recommend an seam overlap of 3"-6" depending on pipe size.)
- Activation: The rewettable cloth coating is activated by water and hardens once dry to a cast like barrier.
- Dip Method: Dip the Rewettable Pipe Lagging in water (bathtub, pail, etc.) and allow excess water to drip off before application. (similar to wallpaper)
- Spray Method: Spray both sides of Rewettable Pipe Lagging with a spray bottle until completely wet.
- Application: Wrap the moist Rewettable Canvas Pipe Lagging around the pipe with the overlapping seam facing downwards on the upper part of the pipe. Allow a 3"-6" seam overlap along with a 3"-6" joint overlap between two sections. (gloves are recommended)
- Dry Period: Allow 12-24 hours for the asbestos pipe wrap to fully cure, we recommend waiting 48 hours before coating with Fiberlock Lag Kote Asbestos Encapsulation Paint
- Coating: As a secondary barrier, coating Rewettable Canvas with Fiberlock Lag-Kote II Asbestos Encapsulant will provide an aesthetically superior finish.
WARNING: Asbestos is a health hazard. Proper precautions should be taken at all times when working with or near asbestos containing materials including wearing a respirator and properly sealing off the work area from other parts of the building.
*Product Quantity Estimation: Please feel free to email us the dimensions of your pipe and we will calculate the total number of yards that are needed for your project. Rewettable Canvas Coverage Chart *Do not over order this product as asbestos removal/encapsulating products are NOT eligible for returns or exchanges.
Dimensions required for Coverage Calculation:
- Circumference around your pipe insulation
- Length of the pipe

WOW WE DID IT!
Never thought my husband and I, both in our mid-60’s, could handle a project like this! We did it, and there was at least 60 ft of pipes we had to cover. Aside from the awful mess, which I was responsible for clean up of, it was relatively simple. It took a while to get the knack of it, and the trick of covering the bends and joints, so I suggest you start in more obscure places first. It was very forgiving of mistakes and could be moved fairly easily. We used the respirators your very nice customer service recommended. There was less friable material than we thought, so we may have over ordered, but that in mind, it was still a very efficient material, and well worth the effort and total price. And talk to their customer service, very very helpful!

The icing on the cake
We used this product as a second coat over the fiber fix and it did exactly as described. The roll went further than expected as we cut them into smaller strips and did nice tight wraps with about 4” overlap on joints and 3” on long sections. The product is thicker than fiber fix so it really adds a nice sturdy coat. Between this and the other products the inspector came and said everything was “perfect” and it looked great. We will be using these products on every job from now on!

Surprised at how nice it was to work with!
I was dreading this project, until I saw how easy the product was to work with. I precut all of my pieces the day before, using a very sharp carpet knife.
I sprayed the asbestos pipes with water, just to make sure any small pieces stayed where they were. Then I dipped the fabric in a bucket of water, and wrapped the pipe with the wet cloth. The process want much faster than I anticipated,SWEET!
I highly recommend this product to anyone who has to encapsulate old asbestos pipes! -

Quick, simple and easy installation
Needed to wrap asbestos insulated pipes in an older church basement. Ordered it at 4pm one day and it arrived by 2pm the next day. Super simple to install for a professional OR first time user. Sealed the asbestos fibers from ever becoming airborne allowing for safe breathing conditions. Was surprised at the ease of use and how fast the process was. Unbeatable for the price.

Great Product speeds production.
I use a wallpaper tray to wet precut pieces.

GREAT PRODUCT SO EASY TO INSTALL
I have an old converted gravity furnace which was covered with an asbestos based insulation coating. I needed to have the combination heat valve changed for a new one and no heating technicians would go near it even though there was no asbestos release.
I decided to wrap the entire furnace and all it took was a couple of hours and now I am overjoyed with the results.
This lagging is SO easy to work with. I just used a large bucket and fairly large sections of the lagging. I dipped them in the water, let excess water run off and applied to the surface of the furnace which i had already sprayed down with water to reduce any chance of asbestos particles coming off. Once covered, I ran my hand over the protected outside to make sure the surface was adhering tightly and continuously.
The furnace looks like a mummy now (lol) and there is no chance of any asbestos release.
FYI, I used a mask, full body protection and of course gloves....
Oh yeah, I got a technician to swap out the old gas valve too!
This is a great product when you don't want to spend thousands on the alternative.
*RR, Thank you for the great review ~ BIP -
Lagging
Lagging fabric worked great. Once you get the hang of it application goes pretty fast.

Easy application
This product was easy to moisten & apply & then form to fit. Drying time was acceptable and then we applied the recommended sealer (Lag-Kote II) which went on very nicely. The two gallon worked well for our 10 yards of material.
*Joseph, we are glad that both our Rewettable Lag Cloth and Lag-Kote products worked out well for your project ~ BIP -
Good stuff
Not quite as easy as the Fiberlock but still not that hard. Had an issue with the fibers being loose after cutting it into the required size strips but overall worked great.
*Thank you for the review. We agree that the fiberglass strands can get frayed when cutting. We recommend worrying about cutting the strands after the cloth dries out, which makes cutting any frays easier. ~ BIP
