Owens Corning ASJ MAX Benefits

Benefits of ASJ Max Jacket:

  • Durable, cleanable, encapsulated-paper jacket doesn't support mold or mildew growth.
  • Resists/sheds water when exposed to intermittent, short-duration precipitation during construction
  • Higher puncture resistance and less wicking/curling than standard ASJ.
  • Accepts paint and mastic as well as standard ASJ.
  • The SSL Max closure system was designed with advanced adhesives to work specifically with the new insulation jacket to provide a tight, reliable seal that doesn't need glue or staples.
  • Outstanding long-term bond as acrylic adhesive "grows" on the insulation jacket during the 48-hour wet out period.

Fiberglass Pipe Insulation covering is intended as a thermal insulation for hot and cold service piping from -20°F to 1000°F.

Typical uses include:

  • Domestic Hot and Cold Water Pipes
  • Hot Water Heating Piping
  • High Temperature and Dual Temperature Systems
  • Steam Supply Lines and Steam Condensate Returns
  • Refrigerated Lines / Chilled Liquids / Water

Fiberglass pipe covering has a white all service jacketing (ASJ) and comes with a self-sealing lap (SSL) for a quick and easy installation. Each 3 foot section of pipe insulation comes with a butt strip tape (matching the white ASJ jacketing) that is used to connect two sections of pipe insulation togther. Ordering an extra roll of ASJ tape is recommended for larger projects or projects requiring cuts to fit around elbows, tees, and other fittings. Use of PVC fitting covers is also highly recommended in conjunction with Fiberglass Pipe Insulation. White mastic is commonly applied to seal any exposed fiberglass.
