Green Glue Whisper Clips

Green Glue Whisper Clips are resilient sound isolation clips designed to mechanically decouple a wall or ceiling from the existing structure.  By decoupling the new wall/ceiling, the sound vibrations hitting the partition will be unable to easily transmit through the partition since the only connection points are the clips themselves.  

Whisper Clips are first installed directly to the wall stud or ceiling joists in a grid like pattern.  Steel Hat Channel is then installed onto the clips to create a perpendicular "tic-tac-toe" board on the wall/ceiling.  A layer of drywall is then fastened directly into the hat channel isolating the drywall from the existing wall/ceiling.  Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound can be added between layers of drywall for superior damping and isolation results.
