By damping these vibrations, Green Glue is able to reduce the amount of vibrational sound transferring from one side of the structure to the other. Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound works so well due to the fact that it always remains in a tacky state. This green joint compound will never dry out and become rigid like conventional adhesives.

Pail = 5 Gallons Green Glue (Equivalent to 23 tubes or 368sf)
Recommended application is 2 tubes or gun dispenses per sheet of 4 x 8 drywall/sub-floor
Install is Simple:
1. Open lid of pail and insert Pail Dispensing Gun cone tip into pail and draw back on plunger filling up the entire reservoir.
2. Apply 2 dispenser loads to the backside of the 2nd layer of drywall in any random pattern across the entire board (leave a 3" border at the edges).
3. Install drywall by sandwiching Green Glue noiseproofing compound between the two layers with the use of screws. (hang within 15 minutes)
4. Seal all perimeters and cracks with sound sealant. Mud, sand, and paint as normal.
HOW TO APPLY GREEN GLUE NOISEPROOFING COMPOUND TO A WALL
Basic STC Ratings:
STC 52 : Standard Single Stud insulated wall with Green Glue between 2 sheets of 5/8" drywall on ONE side of wall.
STC 56 : Standard Single Stud insulated wall with Green Glue between 2 sheets of 5/8" drywall on BOTH sides of wall.
STC 58 : Staggered Stud insulated wall with Green Glue between 2 sheets of 5/8" drywall on ONE side of wall.
STC 62 : Staggered Stud insulated wall with Green Glue between 2 sheets of 5/8" drywall on BOTH sides of wall.
STC 73 : Double Stud insulated wall with Green Glue between 2 sheets of 5/8" drywall on BOTH sides of wall.

Green Glue works
The product itself applies well enough. But you will need to find a way to apply it if you get this way and not in the tubes. I ordered the caulking [gun] applicator for this kind of material but had to use plastic piping bags instead; a bit messy but it worked.

Works great
The product works great. I opt for a 5 gallon of the product instead of the tubes. I used a 30 oz measuring cup to scoop out the green glue and used a 3/16 notched trowel to spread the glue onto the drywall. I used two 28.oz scoops of the measuring cup for one sheet of 4x8 5/8 drywall. After the completed project Ive noticed a huge difference between me and my neighbors in the unit above. I highly recommend this for sound dampening and will be ordering this product again in the near future.

Green Glue
I am making liberal use of Green Glue in an attempt to reduce sound in a single room. It is only one element of a multi layer process so I can not attest to its effectiveness by itself. I suffer from hyperacusis so I can say that Green Glue helps dampen outside noise but not eliminate it. Green Glue Buckets
Used 3 of these buckets to soundproof my mix room. I put 2 guns worth between 2 sheets of Fireblock X - 5/8 sheetrock. The sheetrock was attached directly to the MetroFlex RSIC clips and 25 gauge hat channel. Very happy with the end results and waiting on the glue to fully dry in a few weeks.

Saves a lot of money
I went with the pails instead of the individual tubes. Doing the math that saved some money. The only issue that I think is important to know is that there is some waste when using the caulking gun, so you want to try and do all of your gluing in one day if possible so you don't have to clean your gun all the time (and waste this expensive glue). It was really easy to apply.

Condo owner complains about noise from next door neighbor. Applied Green Glue on the ENTIRE back side of 5/8" Quiet Rock Drywall. Then screwed it to the existing 5/8" Fire Code Drywall. The results, don't have to listen to noise from neighbor any more. Want bigger STC numbers? Combine Green Glue and Quiet Rock Drywall.
