Green Glue
The Green Glue Company is a division of Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics which designs and manufactures soundproofing materials. The Green Glue Company's flagship product is it's Green-Glue Noiseproofing Compound which is synonymous with the brand: Green-Glue. Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound is one of the more simplistic yet cost-effective ways to reduce sound transmission between walls, floors, and ceilings.
Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound is a visco-elastic polymer formula which is applied in a random pattern to a layer of drywall or subfloor and sandwiched between rigid layers on a wall, ceiling, or floor. The compound then dissipates vibrations caused by sound waves as they transmit between one room to another. Two tubes or dispenser fulls of Green Glue are recommended per each 4x8 sheet of drywall or subfloor layer.
Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound is available in two variations. For smaller projects cases of 12 tubes (each tube is 28 fluid ounces). Each case of Green Glue tubes covers 192 square feet. For large project, Green Glue is available in 5 gallon pails which covers approximately 365 square feet. Green Glue pails are dispensed with a Green Glue Pail Applicator Gun.
Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound 5 Gallon Pail 365 square feet of coverage (2 dispensers per 4x8 sheet). Requires a Green Glue Pail Applicator Gun for proper application.
Green Glue Noiseproofing Compound Case of 12 Tubes 192 square feet of coverage (2 tubes per 4x8 sheet). Requires a quart sized caulk gun or the Green Glue Tube Applicator Gun.
Green Glue Acoustical Sealant is an acoustical grade caulk used to seal joints and seams between layers of drywall or subfloor in a soundproof partition. The acoustical sealant should be used to make a wall, ceiling, or floor air tight to prevent sound leaking or flanking in a partition. Green Glue Sealant comes in cases of 12 tubes or 4 tubes.
Green Glue Noiseproofing Whisper Clips are resilient sound isolation clips used to decouple a wall or ceiling from the existing structure. Whisper clips are installed in a grid on the ceiling joists or wall studs and hold hat channel in place. Drywall is then fastened directly to the hat channel which makes the whisper clip the only point of contact between the existing structure and the new wall/ceiling.
Green Glue Noiseproofing Joist Tape is applied directly to the top of floor joists prior to the installation of the subfloor to stop floor squeaks and creaks. Green Glue Joist Tape is applied either by hand or by the Green Glue Joist Tape Roller which makes install extremely fast and easy. The Green Glue Joist Tape Roller is a must for larger projects or homebuilders who will consistently be applying joist tape. Green Glue Joist Tape comes in 100 foot rolls with varying widths of 1-7/16" , 2-1/4" and 3" widths.
